Letty Towles Dog Park - Copy

July 7, 2017 - The Letty Towles Dog Park, located at 2299 SE 32nd Ave., will be temporarily closed for the next 4 - 6 weeks.

This closure is due to the recent outbreak of the highly contagious H3N2 Canine Influenza Virus in Marion County. Please consult the H3N2 Canine Influenza Fact Sheet from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine for questions about the virus, contamination, and infection or consult with your local veterinarian regarding vaccination.

We plan on utilizing this temporary closure as a time to complete improvements and will hold a public meeting so that you may give input. The PUBLIC MEETING will be on Wednesday, July 19, from 6 – 7 p.m. at the Discovery Center (701 NE Sanchez Ave.)

This meeting will serve as an open forum for discussion on ideas and suggestions for park improvements and programming. We will also have volunteer information and applications for those wishing to become a “Bark” Ambassador. The public meeting will NOT be a forum to discuss the H3N2 virus. We refer you to

the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine's webpage for further information and updates.

For questions or concerns about the park closure, please contact Julie Johnson, Assistant Director, City of Ocala Recreation and Parks at 352-368-5517.

Letty Towles Dog Park
FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE “MILLENNIUM DOG PARK”

2299 SE 32 Avenue
Ocala, FL 34470
Located at Jervey Gantt Park

Named after Letty Towles, who founded the park and dedicated many long hours to its success, the park boasts 4.5 acres of beautiful fenced in open space for dogs to run and play. The park is divided into two sections; one for smaller pooches and one for larger dogs. Your pet(s) will love the concrete tunnels, tackle the culvert, frolic with other doggies in the splash pad and visit the water stations for a cool lap of water. It is a great location for your dog(s) to show off their socialization skills and for you to become acquainted with other “dog people.” Is your dog tiring you out? Just have a seat on one of the benches under the pavilion or cool off under the canopy of large Oak trees. The Letty Towles Dog Park is open Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays from 7 a.m. to sunset; and closed Wednesdays and Thursdays. If you need any additional information, please call (352) 368-5517.
